Alpha Phreak

Alpha Phreak

Born as a freak, Tom`s goal could only be to become the alpha freak. Tom has started to collect synthesizers in the 90`s and continues this passion till now. It really is amazing to see this man tweaking his gear to get exactly the sound he had in mind. Each of his machines is stuffed with extraordinary sounds and Tom never will get tired of telling stories about these and how they come to life. He is an educated drummer - a fact that likely sticks out when it come to straight yet sophiosticated beat programming.

Alpha`s CD collection is not less impressive than the bunch of synthesizers he owns. Covering almost any genre of electronic music, he is most deeply into Deep House. Especially releases of Plastic City are an inspiration for him. Reflecting the work of other artists is important for Tom. Also he would not implement everything he likes in the music of others, he rethinks the work of other artists and lets it influence his own work.

The Phreaks play it hot when they drop their beats into the MIDI sytem. Alpha and Doc in the studio means some ultra crazy sound session is going on where associative ideea stacking almost reaches no end.

When Tom and Chris met for the first time, it did not take them long to get along very well and exchange music-making experience. As they do not live in the same city, they met only from time to time, but got to know the music and conceptual ideas of the other very well. When there actually was the chance for the first time to spend studio time together, the magic started. Till now, even the two cannot belive it how easy things worked out and how pleasant it was to share and communicate ideas with each other. A mutual completion of creative minds.

Phreakwave is is Dance, Punk and Disco and everything in between. Neither Tom nor Chris know any boarders in the creation process. Though, both artists have developed their typical way of working over many years, new ideas are always welcome. Well, PhreakWave is a young project and is in a process of repeated re-invention. With some some luck, it will stay like this.
